NRIs cannot submit Form 15GH What can they do to lower TDS on income from India
Mohan Krishna 5056 25 Feb, 2023
Description:
Are you a Non-Resident Indian (NRI) as per the Indian tax laws? If yes, it is good to know about the income tax implications which may arise at the time of receiving any income from India (such as interest, dividend, rent etc). Even a single rupee earned by an NRI in India is subject to TDS as per income tax laws. The provisions of Section 195 of the Income-tax Act, 1961 specifically relate to payments made to NRIs and state that any 'person' responsible for paying an NRI shall deduct tax at source (TDS).
